Beverly Ivey - Principal, Founder
Born and raised in New York City and educated in the New York City public school system.  Ms. Ivey holds a BA in Elementary Education, and an MBA in Marketing and Professional Diploma in Administration and Supervision.

Beverly started her career in the private sector as a Business Manager in advertising and Assistant Buyer at JC Penney’s buying office in New York City. She later moved to her first love of teaching 6th grade on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for 5 years.  

In 1989, she relocated to the Albany, NY area to join the New York State Education Department (NYS SED) as a Regents Minority Management Fellow. After the fellowship, Beverly secured a position with NYS SED as an Associate in the Social Studies bureau.  

After serving one year as an elementary school principal in Ithaca, New York, she returned to Albany in 1997 and joined the City School District of Albany as Assistant Principal at Giffen Memorial Elementary School. In that role, she supervised classroom teachers, evaluated staff, planned and promoted the infusion of multicultural curriculum, developed community relations as well as increased PTA involvement.  

After 11 years at Giffen Memorial Elementary School, Beverly was transferred to Albany School of the Humanities where she provided instruction to the teaching staff and oversaw the day-to-day activities and programs for the students. Her last position with the school district was Interim Principal at New Scotland Elementary School.   

As Beverly began to think about her next steps after retirement and 30 years as an educator, she returned to her love of organizing and promoting events. She drew upon on her MBA in Marketing and nearly 10 years in advertising and started her business, Events by Beverly (EBB) in 2016.

One of EBB's most successful events is an annual trip to Martha’s Vineyard during Columbus Day Weekend. This girl's getaway has had groups of 6 to 30 women. Her company EBB, sponsors bus trips to New York City to see Broadway plays as well as local trips to see musicals and musical acts. In addition to performances, Beverly's company coordinates birthday and graduation parties.

Beverly is involved in civic and social activities. She currently serves as the Branch Secretary of the Albany NAACP and co-chair of the Women’s Ministry at Macedonia Baptist Church. Other roles she has had include: past vce president Friends of the Albany Public Library, past president of The Albany District Links, recording secretary of Alpha Kappa Alpha Delta Mu Omega, and committee member of the Albany chapter of the Black Child Development.

Beverly enjoys traveling, shopping, playing cards, and reading.
